Committee Minutes
Regular Meeting
May 25th, 2004

7:00 PM

Attending Members: Joseph Colangelo, Mike Harnad, Greg Blessing, Steve Swart and Bob Portello.  John Sahi the Assistant to the Recreation Commission was also in attendance.

Meeting called to order at 7:10 PM.


APPROVAL OF MINUTES:
The minutes from the previous WRC meeting were reviewed.  The motion to accept was by Mike Harnad with a second by Joseph Colangelo.  Members were unanimous in approval.  

GENERAL DISCUSSION:
Bob Portello requested the status of Flag Football Registrations to date.  John Sahi will review this in the Directors Report.

DIRECTORS REPORT:
1.John Sahi requested the JOAD Tournament be held at the Willington Town Hall Athletic Field on June 20th.  Mike
Harnad made a motion to accept the proposal, which was seconded by Joseph Colangelo.  The members agreed
unanimously.  It was also agreed that the tournament be held here on an annual basis.
2. There was an amendment to the beach raking duties for Hall Pond.  The beach will be raked at the beginning of the day.
3. John Sahi will have Flag Football registrations in the local schools by 5/28/04.
4. Willington’s NFL Flag Football League is officially registered.
5. Tolland and Ashford schools will be offered registration for Flag Football by 6/4/04.
6. Flag Football will also be posted on the E.O. Smith public access television channel.

OLD BUSINESS:
No discussion.


NEW BUSINESS:
1.A projected cost was presented for completion of the River Road facility.  Phase 1 was adjusted to remove the
engineering cost, and add $2,000.00 to the electrical cost.  Phase 2 was adjusted to add $30,000.00 to the light
installation portion, and $12,000.00 for the baseball field installation.  This projected cost will be adjusted and presented
by the WRC.  Phase 1 needs to be completed as soon as possible to keep the project on track.  A letter has been presented
to the town of North Haven requesting transfer of their existing light poles and light fixtures, by the WRC, to the River
Road facility.
2.The Public Works Department has completed grass mowing promptly at all the athletic fields.  This is much
appreciated.
3.The WRC will have a booth on Willington Day including a batting cage and informative materials.   The batting cage
will be installed and operated by the WRC and the local Boy Scouts.  The proceeds from the cage will be divided between
the two groups.


   
ADJOURMENT:
There was a motion made by Greg Blessing to adjourn, which Joe Colangelo seconded.  The meeting was adjourned at 9:10PM.  The next regular WRC meeting was scheduled for June 22nd, 2004 at 7:00PM.
